Speaking

christina nifong and chicken

I’ve been a journalist and writer for 30 years and a local food lover for 15.

I’ve presented at Zoom book launches and hosted a five-week, community-wide Zoom book club. I’ve led how-to workshops in person at the Roanoke Regional Writers Conference and presented talks on local food at a variety of events in my community — from women’s group dinners to mom’s group gatherings, from lunch-and-learns at the office and at the Roanoke Co+op to skills workshops for community gardeners. I’ve taught kids and adults how to plant carrots and grow worms and eat flowers and cook dinner.

In my day-to-day, I’m writing magazine features, personal essays, book reviews, newsletters,  recipes and how-to articles. I enjoy talking about my work, as I did on this podcast. I am comfortable working in print, radio, video, online and social media forums.

Reach out if you’re interested in hiring me to speak, write or teach. I’m happy to consider your proposal.
