Harvest Trail Mix

Harvest Trail Mix

We all need snacks, right? Something to get us through an afternoon slump or the mid-morning tummy growlings. But we also all know that helping ourselves to the doughnut tray or seeking out a Snickers isn’t really the way to go. Enter: trail mix. With an investment of just a few minutes, anyone can stir up a mélange of pretzels, nuts, sesame sticks, sunflower seeds, dried fruit and maybe a chocolate or yogurt chip to keep things interesting. Then parcel your mix into pint canning jars or small plastic containers and it’s like having a single-serving bag of chips (but a whole lot healthier). This mix boasts a nice balance of salty to sweet and includes some flavors you might not automatically reach for. But, of course, feel free to riff, using whatever you have at hand.

Ingredients

  • 1 cup salted, roasted pumpkin seeds (click here for how to roast your own)
  • 1 cup dried cranberries
  • 1 cup salted, roasted pistachios, shells removed
  • 1/2 cup Ghiradelli white baking chips

Instructions

  1. Measure all ingredients into a medium bowl. Mix well. Separate into single servings, if desired.
