Cookie Fever

Honestly, I’m not sure what’s gotten into me.

It’s June and my garden is up and growing. I’ve got leafy greens winding down, raspberries coming in, zucchini flowers begging for me to sauté them. But somehow I keep reaching for my large mixing bowl and reflexively softening two sticks of butter.

Yes, it’s cookie-making that keeps calling me. Maybe it’s having the kids home from school. (My kitchen helpers vote for cookies above all else.) It’s definitely a desire to have us eat homemade rather than processed. And sometimes I’m even able to sneak a few veggies in with the brown sugar and vanilla extract.

So, even though it doesn’t feel exactly seasonal to be writing about cookies this week, that’s what I’ve got for you. Maybe you’ll catch my cookie fever, too.

Here are links to the cookies I’ve been stirring up of late: Mexican Wedding Cookies for my kids’ end-of-the-school-year Spanish class party; a cookie we call Panda Bears (for their look) that we made for teacher gifts; Jam Bars turned out to be my husband’s request for his birthday “cake;” and Oatmeal Cranberry Cookies came from new recipe I tried and we all enjoyed.

Happy Cookie Making!
