Smoothies are a hit year-round in our house. But there are definite opinions about what ingredients make a smoothie top-notch. Me? It’s all about the fruit and veggies. My husband is a big banana lover. And my youngest? Well, a smoothie is not a smoothie unless a healthy dollop of peanut butter is swirled in. So, for all the peanut butter lovers out there, here’s a recipe for you.
Makes 16 ounces
Ingredients
- 2 bananas (can be overripe or frozen)
- 4 Tbsp. peanut butter (can substitute another nut butter)
- 2 pitted dates
- 2 Tbsp. unsweetened cocoa powder
- 2 to 2 1/2 cups milk of your choice (cow? oat? cashew?)
Instructions
- Place all ingredients except milk in a high quality blender. Blend on high until smooth, scraping down the sides at least once.
- Add 1 1/2 cups milk and blend well. Add extra milk or water to achieve desired consistency.
- Pour into 2 glasses and enjoy!
